733 Front Street

San Francisco, CA

Site: 96,976 sf (residential), 16,023 sf (office)     No. Stories: 7 stories

Formerly an office building, 733 Front Street was converted into residential housing with ground floor commercial use. Located on the edge of historic Jackson Square and adjacent to Sidney Walton Park, the building accommodates 69 luxury condominiums and 39 off-street parking spaces. Modifications to the exterior provide natural ventilation and improve day lighting. A new color scheme adds hierarchy and a sense of verticality, allowing the more modern expression to reflect portions of the older structures in the district. The two existing atria were converted to open-air courtyards, providing additional natural light and ventilation for the condominiums. A communal open-space sundeck was created at the penthouse roof level for use by residents. The deck has dramatic panoramic views of the bay, the Bay Bridge, the Financial District, and Coit Tower.
