San Francisco Transit Shelters & Kiosks

San Francisco, CA

Heller Manus provided design services for Gannett Shelter Posters of San Francisco to implement a series of bus shelters and information kiosks for the Market Street corridor. The bus shelter design utilizes a glazed barrel vault roof with painted steel support columns and an extruded metal cornice. The shelters incorporate transit maps, public telephones, and backlit information posters within the enclosures. A light steel frame seating system with swivel seats allows for waiting, without encouraging extended occupancy. The associated information kiosks incorporate three backlit information panels with a painted triangular roof. Located throughout the City and County of San Francisco, the simple and unique design of the bus shelter with integrated seating, telephone, and advertising elements were developed for diverse sites including downtown, waterfront, and neighborhood areas.
