Site: 10,000 sf
This U.C. Berkeley Data Center is located at the intersection of Oxford and Hearst within the U.C. Berkeley Seismic Replacement Building also designed by Heller Manus. The preliminary program includes approximately 10,000 sf of tenant improvements on the third floor and the necessary support space created at the ground, penthouse, and roof levels. Incorporating the data center into the original base Seismic Replacement Building included necessary shell and core construction plans and upgrades, specific tenant improvements on the third floor, and a program to ultimately expand the center to 15,000 sf. Other requirements for integrating the data center into the base project included floor-to-floor height analysis and the establishment of an emergency generator location, UPS room, battery back-up room, fuel supply location and distribution system, and elevator cab size and weight requirements.
