The planning and design process for the Xixian Center involved the integration of urban machinery and organic city design themes. City machinery refers to the modern city system use of axis, neighborhood grids, and economic indicators that control city planning. The kernel of the urban system is similar to the working principle of the machine. The theme of the organic city is people-oriented. Organic cities emphasize the use of feelings in order to inject more vitality and nature into the urban ecosystem. Trails, landscapes, nodes, and landmarks enhance the humane city's sense of place. The city road grid not only defines the blocks but also truncates their relationship. And a group of landscape bridge systems create important open space and pedestrian connectivity. By integrating the natural organic urban landscape with the distinctive urban context, our program provides the city with a rich and comprehensive urban texture that is a model and a good foundation for the long-term development of Xishui New District.
