The design of this freestanding two-story McDonald’s restaurant, located in the Front Street Historic Conservation District of downtown San Francisco, reflects the character of its pedestrian-scaled surroundings.

The restaurant, which will be used to test new products, contains an atrium space at the front of the building for seating, which can be opened to the street during warm weather. A mezzanine dining area, overlooking the atrium, accommodates additional seating. The building exterior is vertically articulated with glass, cement plaster and galvanized metal cornice work.
