Sam’s Grill and Seafood Restaurant, a historic gem in San Francisco, remains a beloved establishment for those seeking a timeless dining experience. Nestled as part of Belden Alley, Sam’s serves as a gateway to a European-style thoroughfare home to a variety of restaurants and cafes.

Adapting to the dynamic culinary landscape of San Francisco, the restaurant has recently transformed its covered outdoor seating into an exquisite glass jewel box. Spanning 900 square feet alongside the main restaurant, this addition accommodates 60 patrons, with a layout that includes both a main dining area and a private dining room that is a tad more intimate. The design seamlessly integrates with the lively pedestrian scene and openness that characterizes Belden Alley, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere the alley has cultivated over the years. This innovative addition captures the spirit of tradition meeting modernity, providing an enchanting setting for patrons to enjoy their dining experience at the crossroads of history and contemporary charm.

The project, built in a Public Way, required extensive collaboration with multiple city departments, including Planning, the Department of Public Works, and Fire Inspection. Their guidance and support were invaluable in navigating through the city processes. Additionally, the involvement of former Mayor Willie Brown and Aaron Peskin played a crucial role in shepherding the project through the final stages of approval.
